Magna Carta at the National Archives

Visitors view one of the four surviving copies of the 1297 Magna Carta, part of the "Records of Rights" exhibit, at the National Archives in Washington, Dec. 11, 2013. The permanent exhibition near the entrance serves to prepare visitors for the founding documents of the United States held inside. (Drew Angerer for The New York Times)
